A Sylmar man was convicted Monday of the stabbing death of a 19-year-old man at a birthday party.
David Gage Silva, 22, killed Anthony Hernandez about 1:30 a.m. Oct. 28, 2012, at the end of a party held in the 13300 block of Sayre Street. The party was winding down when a fight broke out in the garage, prosecutors said.
Hernandez, who was the friend of an invited guest, was found lying on a walkway in front of the house. He died at a hospital a short time later.
Silva was arrested that afternoon. A witness testified seeing Silva trying to ditch a knife and the shirt he wore to the party.
Jurors who convicted him of murder also found true an allegation that he personally used a knife during the crime.
Sentencing is set for Dec. 16.
