The Coroner’s Office Saturday identified a 33-year-old man who was killed in a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash in Littlerock.

The pedestrian was identified as Littlerock resident Jose Jimenez, said Coroner’s Lt. David Smith

Jimenez was standing in the eastbound lane of Avenue T, near 85th Street East, when he was struck by a vehicle travelling at about 50 mph around 6:10 p.m. Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver of the vehicle, Ramon Cerena, 63, of Lancaster, did not have time to brake, but swerved in an effort to avoid him. Jimenez was struck by the front right of the vehicle, California Highway Patrol Officer C. McMichael said.

Jimenez was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, despite the efforts of a good Samaritan, who performed CPR on him, McMichael said.
