A man was struck and killed by a Metrolink train Sunday in Covina, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.

Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau Lt. Lester Trull said the department was informed at 4:32 p.m. that train number 369, eastbound from San Bernardino to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, struck a man near the intersection of Cypress Street and Banna Avenue.

The victim died at the scene, Trull said.

The train that struck the man was delayed and another eastbound train was holding at the Covina Metrolink station, he said.

The Covina Police Department was investigating.
