Long Beach police say the body of an infant girl found in Imperial Beach in San Diego County is that of 3-week old Eliza Delacruz, who was taken by a gunman who shot and wounded her parents and uncle in home in Long Beach on Saturday, according to KCAL9

The search for the suspect shifted to San Diego County on Sunday after the body of an infant was found in a dumpster in Imperial Beach.

Investigators believe the gunman took 10-pound Eliza Delacruz from a home in the 100 block of West 51st Street after the shooting on Saturday.

Officers found the shooting victims after being dispatched to a shooting call about 5:50 p.m. Saturday, Marlene Arrona of the Long Beach Police Department said.

“Two victims remain in critical but stable condition at local hospitals. The third victim has been treated and released,” she said.

The two wounded men are brothers, she said.

Police do not believe the shooting was a random act.

Arrona said Long Beach police detectives were in touch with San Diego County Sheriff’s Department counterparts after an infant was found dead near a shopping center in Imperial Beach this afternoon, but it was unclear if the body is that of Delacruz.

The body was found shortly before 1:30 p.m., said San Diego County sheriff’s Lt. Jim Walker.

A woman told 10News she found the remains in a trash bin behind a restaurant in the shopping center.

Meanwhile, the hunt continued for the gunman, who was described only as Hispanic or black with dark skin.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to call the LBPD’s communications center at (562) 435-6711. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
