Two men were charged Wednesday with the Hollywood killing of a man whose shooting was witnessed by an off-duty Los Angeles police officer.
Troy McVey, 22, and Colby Kronholm, 21, are each charged with one count of murder, with arraignment scheduled for Jan. 21. McVey is believed to be the gunman, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The off-duty police officer who witnessed the shooting about 11:55 p.m. Sunday at Cahuenga Boulevard and Selma Avenue chased McVey and Kronholm, who were arrested about 15 minutes later, authorities said.
The victim, a man in his 50s who was shot multiple times, was taken to a hospital, where he died Monday morning. His name has not been released, and he is referred to as “John Doe” in the criminal complaint.
McVey and Kronholm face potential life prison sentences if convicted.
