A parolee was arrested at a Pomona hotel on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale, police reported Monday.

Officers were called to the Sheraton at 601 W. McKinley Ave. about 11 p.m. Sunday after someone requested a welfare check on a hotel guest, according to a Pomona Police Department statement.

Police determined that the man, identified as 39-year-old Del Rio, was on active probation, and a search of his room turned up 2 1/2 pounds of pre- packaged crystal methamphetamine and $4,500 in cash, according to department officials.

He was booked on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine for sale.
