A vehicle being pursued by Glendale Police Officers crashed into another vehicle Tuesday, injuring two people, authorities said.

The two people injured were in the vehicle stuck by the one being pursued, and one of them was hospitalized in stable condition, said Glendale Police Sgt. Warren Holmes. The other declined to be transported, he said.

Holmes said the pursuit began after an attempted traffic stop of a sedan north of the Ventura (134) Freeway around 1:30 a.m.

The vehicle being chased ran a red light at the intersection of West Los Feliz Road and South Brand Boulevard in Glendale a short time later ad crashed into the other vehicle, Holmes said, and both occupants fled.

One of them was caught a short time later, while the second, the vehicle driver, was caught around 3:30 a.m. Holmes said.

Based on material thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit, and other evidence later discovered inside of it, including checks and stolen mail, the driver was facing charges relating to identity theft, as well as felony evasion and felony hit-and-run, Holmes said.

The names of the suspect were not immediately released.
