A man was killed and a 16-year-old boy was wounded in a gang-related shooting in a church parking lot in North Hills, authorities said Friday.

The victims were found in the parking lot of the Sepulveda United Methodist Church at 15435 Rayen St. around 9:50 p.m. Thursday, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jane Kim.

Bryan Henriquez, 24, of North Hills died at the scene, said coroner’s Chief Craig Harvey.

LAPD Detective Ryan Verna said the two victims were gang members who were approached by three rival gang members as they ate at a food truck.

Two of the three began beating the 16-year-old, while the third suspect led Henriquez a few yards away from witnesses and shot him several times, Verna said.

The boy suffered a graze wound to the leg, possibly from a richocheting round fired at Henriquez, Verna said.

Anyone with information was urged to call Verna, of the LAPD’s Mission Division Homicide Unit at (818) 838-9976. Anonymous tips can be called into CrimeStoppers at (800) 222-8477.
