A cat burglar broke through a window into an occupied house in Valencia, assaulted the homeowner and took some of his belongings, a sheriff’s sergeant said Saturday.

The homeowner was doing some work inside his residence in the 23000 block of Avenida Entrana when he heard his doorbell ring. The victim did not answer the doorbell, but the burglar apaprently broke a window and climbed in.

The victim was then confronted by the suspect, who demanded some of his belongings, said Sgt. Daniel Stanley of the sheriff’s Santa Clarita station.

The suspect assaulted the victim, took some items from the home and fled the scene, Stanley said. Deputies were dispatched to the location at 4 p.m. Friday.

The suspect was described as a black male, between 20 and 25 years old,.
