A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI Saturday after he left a Malibu restaurant, drove through a sheriff’s barricade and plowed into two vehicles damaged hours earlier in a fatal crash on Pacific Coast Highway involving four vehicles, one of them driven by Bruce Jenner.
The second crash happened about 6:40 p.m., more than six hours after the earlier collisions that killed a woman near Corral Canyon Road, Sgt. Matthew Dunn of the sheriff’s Malibu-Lost Hills Station told City News Service at the scene.
The unidentified driver left the restaurant and headed south on PCH, where he rammed his vehicle into a Prius and a Lexus sedan, Dunn said.
The driver of the Lexus — whose name and age have not been released — died at the scene of the earlier incident and seven other people were taken to a hospital after those crashes, the sheriff’s department reported.
Jenner was driving a Cadillac Escalade that rear-ended the Lexus after it had rear-ended the Prius, which slowed or stopped in a northbound lane, according to the sheriff’s department.
The Escalade pushed the Lexus into southbound lanes, where it was struck by an oncoming Hummer H2, authorities said.
The second crash did not compromise the original crash investigation, Dunn said, because investigators had just finished taking measurements of the first crash scene when the second one happened.
