A transient believed in his 30s was stabbed eight times in the torso by an assailant who fled in a light blue BMW, police said.
The stabbing occurred Monday morning at 11th and Alvarado streets at 3:40 a.m., said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Milton Gamble.
“It’s his lucky day. We thought we had a fatal,” said Gamble. Before paramedics arrived, the man was unconscious and appeared not to be breathing.
Staff at the hospital where the man was taken reported that the victim had undergone surgery and was expected to survive his wounds, the sergeant said.
The suspect was described as a man in his 30s who fled in a light blue BMW, Gamble said.
Witnesses told police the stabbing resulted from a dispute.
“We don’t know what caused the dispute,” Gamble said.
