Authorities on Sunday released the name of a 31-year-old motorcyclist who was killed during a crash that tied up freeways from central Los Angeles to Burbank and beyond.

The crash happened about 9:45 a.m. Saturday on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway south of Mission Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Steven Jacob Richter of Chatsworth was riding a Harley-Davidson Super Glide that collided with a Nissan Sentra driven by a 21-year-old Los Angeles man, according to the CHP.

Richter fell from the bike and suffered fatal injuries, the CHP reported.

Emergency responders had difficulty reaching the crash scene, as traffic blocked all access on the southbound freeway as it approached the San Bernardino (10) Freeway interchange.

Lanes were gradually reopened starting at 12:05 p.m., but the constriction caused serious delays on the 5, 110, 2, 101 and 134 freeways, all the way into Burbank, Glendale and South Pasadena.
