A suspicious item spotted inside a vehicle near the location where the Oscars will be held caused the shutdown of a major nearby intersection Thursday, police said.
The item was found about 11 a.m. at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, adjacent to the Dolby Theatre where stars will gather on Sunday.
Officer Abraham Nesheiwat of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section said a bomb squad inspected the item.
The scene was declared safe about 4:10 p.m., according to the LAPD.
Street closures caused by the investigation snarled traffic in the area, according to reports from the scene.
