A 25-year-old man was booked for the death of a woman in Hawthorne.

Amir Bass allegedly ran over his girlfriend’s 67-year-old mother with his car in the 13300 block of Doty Avenue around 8:35 p.m. Thursday, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Trina Schrader said.

Martina Olivaece was struck by Bass’ car after Bass was arguing with the victim’s 32-year-old daughter in front of the Doty Avenue location, Schrader said. The daughter suffered minor injuries in their altercation, Schrader added.

A CBS2 report said Olivaece arrived at the scene in her car as the argument was going on. At some point, the suspect allegedly ran the victim over and fled the scene going south on Doty Avenue, according to the sheriff’s department.

Olivaece was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s department.

Bass was arrested around 9:55 p.m. Thursday by Hawthorne police, according to county jail records. He was booked on suspicion of murder and his bail was set at $60,000. Bass was scheduled to go to court on March 3 to be arraigned on the charge.
