Three burglary suspects led sheriff’s deputies on a chase Monday into the Hacienda Heights area, where two of them were arrested but a third ran off, prompting a search of the area and a lockdown at a middle school.
The search was conducted near Seventh and Orange Grove avenues, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Rick Thurlo of the Industry Station.
Deputies began chasing the suspects about 7 a.m. near a business where a break-in had just occurred in the 15300 block of Gale Avenue, Thurlo said. The suspects’ vehicle eventually stopped near Seventh and Orange Grove avenues, where two of the suspects were arrested and the third ran off, Thurlo said.
Nearby Orange Grove Middle School was place on lockdown as a precaution while the search was conducted, Thurlo said.
Late this morning, the school lockdown was lifted, and the “perimeter” search was deactivated, but some deputies remained in the general area looking for the third suspect, a deputy said.
