Authorities sought public help to find the hit-and-run motorist responsible for critically injuring an 87-year-old woman who was trying to cross a street near USC in a crosswalk.
The woman was injured about 8 a.m. Monday at Adams Boulevard and Figueroa Street, said Los Angeles police Officer Drake Madison.
PPolice released security video showing the woman crossing the street as the vehicle approached her. The vehicle was described as a silver, late-model Infiniti SUV, possibly a QX or FX model, Madison said. No description was released of the motorist.
“The suspect collided with the pedestrian and continued northbound on Figueroa Street,” Madison said.
“After driving approximately one block north, the suspect made a U-turn and drove past the victim in the southbound lanes,” Madison said. “He continued to drive around the USC campus at a high rate of speed, and, on one occasion, drove through a red light.”
Anyone with more information on the case was urged to call the LAPD South Traffic Division at (323) 421-2500, or (877) LAPD-247.
