A retired Los Angeles Police Department detective pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that he possessed and distributed child pornography.
Charles Daniel Henderson, who worked for the LAPD for roughly 20 years, is charged with two felony counts of distribution of child pornography and one felony count of possession of child pornography, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Henderson, 69, is accused of uploading child pornography, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
A search warrant served last October at Henderson’s home in Downey turned up more than 600 images of child or youth pornography, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Henderson was freed on $80,000 bail. A date is scheduled to be set April 21 for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require him to stand trial.
If convicted as he is charged, Henderson faces up to six years and four months in state prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
