A man was forced to lay face down in the sand in Manhattan Beach on Sunday as a suspect — who simulated the use of a handgun — sexually assaulted his female friend.
The assault occurred about 12:15 a.m. at the 3400 block of the beach, said Manhattan Beach police Sgt. Andrew Enriquez.
A suspect approached the man and woman, both in their 40s, as they were sitting in the sand.
After the assualt, the man ran away to the south with unspecified property belonging to the victims, Enriquez said.
“An area search was made for the suspect, but he was not located,” the police sergeant said. “Manhattan Beach detectives were notified and will be handling the investigation.”
Manhattan Beach police detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the sexual assault to call them at (310) 802-5140.
