A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed Thursday in a crash into a tree in Northridge.

The motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed, heading east on Plummer Street, when he lost control and struck a tree, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. in the 19000 block of Plummer Street, between Reseda Boulevard and Tampa Avenue, Im said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Im said.

The LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division was investigating the fatality, Im said.
