A man whose leg was severed in a hit-and-run accident in South Los Angeles remained hospitalized Monday and a woman was in custody on suspicion of hit-and-run and DUI, police said.
The woman allegedly struck the man with her vehicle at the intersection of 43rd Street and Central Avenue about 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section said. His leg was severed, added Officer Rosario Herrera.
The motorist left the scene at a high rate of speed and while being chased by police, hit two parked vehicles — a car and a truck — near 51st Street and McKinley Avenue, Herrera said.
The victim was taken to a hospital and the suspect was taken into custody after she was checked out at a hospital for minor injuries, Herrera said.
