Two people were killed Saturday when a Corvette failed to negotiate a curve on Bouquet Canyon Road in the Angeles National Forest near Santa Clarita.
The fiery crash was at about 10:55 a.m. in the 34300 block of Bouquet Canyon Road, said California Highway Patrol Officer Peter Bishop.
Both people in the two-seat performance sports car were pronounced dead at the scene, Bishop said.
The Corvette had been going northbound at a high rate of speed when the driver apparently lost control around a curve and slammed it into a tree, causing the vehicle to catch fire, CHP Officer Eric Stevenson told the Santa Clarita Valley Signal.
The officer said the driver apparently died on impact, and the passenger could not be revived after being pulled from the wreckage by passersby.
