Police on Monday announced the arrest of a man accused in the stabbing death of his mother in Gardena.
The victim called 9-1-1 and said her son was breaking into her apartment in the 16400 block of South Harvard Boulevard about 8:30 a.m. Sunday, said Lt. Steve Prendergast of the Gardena Police Department.
When officers arrived, they detained a man seen leaving the apartment, then went inside to check on the caller’s well-being and found her dead, he said. Sohyun Kim, 56, had been stabbed numerous times, Prendergast said.
The man they detained, 30-year-old son Nicholas Kim, was booked on suspicion of murdering his mother, the lieutenant said.
