Two Los Angeles Police Officers have been released from a hospital after treatment for injuries suffered when a suspect they were trying to detain in Koreatown put up a fight, authorities said Tuesday.
The incident started at about 9 p.m. Monday at Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue, said LAPD Sgt. J. Puente.
A citizen flagged down the officers for what they believed was a robbery, Puente said.
“When they went to detain the suspect a use of force occurred and one officer suffered a bite on the arm and one officer suffered a dislocated shoulder,” he said.
The officers arrested the suspect but they could not establish that a robbery had occurred because the person who flagged them down had disappeared, Puente said. The suspect was instead booked on suspicion of mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon.
