The parents of a 14-year-old boy who went missing with a 12-year-old girl in the Venice area over the weekend distributed fliers Monday in hopes somebody will recognize the pair.
Timothy Jacob Reed and Ashley Montes were last seen together around 4 p.m. Saturday near Mark Twain Middle School, said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department. Montes and Reed are friends, and they apparently said they were planning to take a bus to Venice Beach, Lopez said.
It’s unclear if the pair ever actually boarded the Metro line 33 bus, but they haven’t been seen since. Police said the kids both have cell phones, but they may be turned off since neither child is answering.
Both of their families have been working with police in the investigation.
Montes is Latina with black hair and brown eyes. She is 4 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 80 pounds.
Reed is Hispanic with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is being asked to call the LAPD’s Pacific Area watch commander at (310) 482-6334, or (877) LAPD-24-7. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R- I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.
