Police Saturday were seeking the public’s help in locating a man who raped a 30-year-old woman after forcing his way through the living room window of her Boyle Heights home.
The attack occurred about 12:30 a.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The woman was asleep in her bedroom when the man broke in, police said.
“The suspect removed most of his clothing with the exception of his underwear and then entered the victim’s bedroom,” according to a police statement. “The victim woke up when she heard a noise in her room and she observed the suspect standing at the foot of her bed.”
The suspect then raped the woman, dressed and left the residence, according to the LAPD.
The man was armed with a machete, according to one published report, which was not confirmed by police. He was described as Hispanic, around 35 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall, about 150 pounds with brown wavy hair, brown or hazel eyes and a noticeable scar on his upper lip.
He wore a gray hoodie with blue side panels, blue jeans, black tennis shoes and a brown baseball cap.
