Authorities on Wednesday identified a man who took his own life during a standoff at a Koreatown apartment building with SWAT officers sent to arrest him on a warrant for allegedly killing his wife.
Bob Duran, 40, barricaded himself in the ground floor apartment in the 200 block of North Kenmore Avenue around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. He was found dead in the apartment of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound around seven hours later, according to Los Angeles police.
Police said Duran fired shots at SWAT officers toward the end of the standoff, but no officers were injured, and none returned fire.
Duran was accused in the May 9 shooting death of 36-year-old Siria Portillo at a bar at 14th Street and Western Avenue in Harvard Heights, police said.
