A fire destroyed a number of vehicles, car parts, petroleum products and two outbuildings at a junkyard in Irwindale this afternoon and left one civilian injured.
The blaze was reported at 1:50 p.m. in the 700 block of Alpha Street, said county fire Inspector Randall Wright, who said the fire quickly went to a second alarm.
More than 50 firefighters had the bulk of the fire knocked down in about 40 minutes, he said, but some stayed on scene to watch for flare-ups.
There was no immediate word on the condition of the person who was injured, nor on the cause of the fire.
