Two brothers were convicted Tuesday of murder and other charges for a car-to-car shooting in Palmdale that resulted in the death of a 7- year-old girl.
Jesus Alberto Peralta, 23, and Carlos Peralta, 21, both of Palmdale, were found guilty of one count each of first-degree murder and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, along with three counts of attempted murder. Jurors also found true gun allegations.
Desirae Macias was shot in the head on Sept. 4, 2013, and died four days later after being taken off life support. The shooting occurred near Sunburst and Stratford drives, shortly after the Peralta brothers confronted a man at a Palmdale gas station.
The man left with his girlfriend and her two children, with the Peraltas in pursuit, according to Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Chung.
A sheriff’s deputy later stopped a vehicle matching one that was involved in the shooting, and the two men were arrested.
The brothers — who have remained jailed since then — are due back in a Lancaster courtroom for sentencing July 24. Jesus Peralta is facing 170 years to life in state prison, while Carlos Peralta faces a maximum 110-year-to-life prison term, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
