A fire broke out Monday morning at a large Echo Park home that serves as the Fore Runners for Christ Church, prompting an investigation by the House of Worship Task Force, officials said.

The fire at the church in the 1600 block of North Morton Avenue was reported at 2:26 a.m., said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Margaret Stewart.

“The fire was started on the porch and extended to the attic but was quickly extinguished,” Stewart said. “Damage was limited primarily to the porch.”

There were no injuries, she said.

The House of Worship Task Force is made up of area fire and police investigators and federal law enforcement agents.
