A Rowland Heights man was sentenced Tuesday to 26 years to life in prison for fatally stabbing his ex-boyfriend.
Andres Aguirre, 28, was convicted June 2 of first-degree murder for the Feb. 12, 2014, killing of Joseph Chacon, 27.
Aguirre plied Chacon with a large amount of alcohol, drove him to an isolated industrial area in La Puente and then stabbed him in the chest and back when he tried to return to the car after going outside to urinate, according to Deputy District Attorney Lauren Guber.
Chacon’s body was found a short time later by passersby, the prosecutor said.
The victim’s family notified law enforcement that Chacon had last been seen with the victim before he died. Aguirre and Chacon had remained friends after their romantic relationship ended, according to the prosecutor.
Jurors heard an interview in which Aguirre admitted two days later to sheriff’s investigators that he had stabbed the victim, Guber said.
