A woman reportedly armed with a knife was shot and killed in a confrontation with police in the Crenshaw District Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched at 1:40 p.m. to the 3700 block of Santa Rosalia Drive on a report of a robbery, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s media relations office.

Around 2 p.m., they saw a woman matching the description of the suspect in an alley west of Marlton Avenue, said LAPD Officer Nuria Vanegas.

“Officers tried to detain the female, at which time an officer-involved shooting occurred,” she said. “At this time, we are unable to determine the actions of the female. However, we do know that a taser was deployed and a large knife is at the scene. The female is deceased at the scene.”     No officers were injured, Vanegas said.
