A man was shot and killed Friday in Pasadena.
The shooting happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. in the shared parking lot in the rear of a building that houses several businesses in the 1700 block of East Washington Boulevard, Pasadena police Lt. Jesse Carrillo said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Carillo said.
Police did not release the man’s name, but distraught family members at the scene identified him as Monte Russell, 38, of Los Angeles, who was in the area to get a haircut, the Pasadena Star-News reported.
His mother Yvonne Trice said Russell had a troubled past and had been involved in gangs but was now a father of three daughters and worked as a tile installer for an Altadena company, according to the Star-News.
No suspect information was immediately available, Carrillo said.
