A 57-year-old man was killed and two other men suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of South Los Angeles, police said Thursday.

The gunfire erupted in the 500 block of West 94th Street around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Los Angeles police lieutenant.

Los Angeles resident Kevin Gardner died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

A woman who identified herself as the wife of one of the wounded men told NBC4 that her husband had driven another man home and had just gotten out of the car to open the front gate of their residence when two gunmen approached.

The woman said the man who was fatally shot was in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

No arrests were immediately reported.
