Once he recovers from his injuries, a motorist is expected to be arrested for alleged felony drunken driving in triggering a head- on collision with another driver in Boyle Heights.

The crash occurred at 2:16 a.m. Saturday at 405 S. Lorena St., said Sgt. S. Bailey of the Los Angeles Police Department.

A motorist driving a Nissan 370Z southbound drove into the northbound lanes and struck a Lexus 300, said Sgt. Kevin Custard of the LAPD’s Central Traffic Division.

“No street racing. Maybe he was going faster than what he should have been,” Custard said. “He was drunk and lost control of his vehicle.”

Paramedics rushed the driver to County USC Medical Center with some internal injuries as well as abrasions to his face and knees, he said. His passenger was not injured in the crash.

The driver of the Lexus 300 was uninjured, Bailey said.
