A woman pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges that she had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male student while she was working as a teacher’s aide.
Prosecutors allege that Brandy Leah Wilborn — a teacher’s aide at Claremont High School at the time — had a sexual relationship with the teen between January and May.
An investigation was launched after authorities were alerted by school officials about the woman’s alleged contact with the teen, according to prosecutors.
Wilborn, 39, of Pomona, was arrested May 8 by Claremont police and was released the same day after posting bond.
She is due back in a Pomona courtroom Oct. 22 for a hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence to require her to stand trial on one felony count each of unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation of a person under 18 and one misdemeanor count of child molesting.
Wilborn faces up to three years in state prison if convicted as charged, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
