A woman and a baby boy were found dead inside a Hollywood apartment Tuesday, but their deaths were not the result of foul play, police said.

A 2-year-old boy was also found alive inside the apartment in the 1600 block of North Fuller Avenue, between Hollywood and Sunset boulevards, Los Angeles Police Department Lt. John Jenal said.

Officers made the grim discovery when they responded to the apartment about 3 p.m. to investigate a report of a child crying, according to LAPD Officer Liliana Preciado said.

The surviving child was taken to a hospital for treatment of dehydration and was in stable condition, Preciado said.

NBC4 and the Los Angeles Times both reported the mother, whose name was not released, had recently been hospitalized for breathing difficulties and had been diagnosed with bronchitis.

Officers believed the mother died of natural causes, and the 1-year-old choked on food, an officer at the LAPD’s Hollywood Station said.
