Steep terrain and narrow streets complicated firefighting effort as firefighters backed up by water-dropping helicopters battled a small brushfire above Brentwood early Tuesday.

The fire behind 23 North Oakmont Drive was reported at 3:55 a.m. and knocked down at 5:24 a.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

The quarter-acre fire generated a substantial deployment of resources, including 84 firefighters and three water-dropping helicopters, she said.

One home was briefly threatened but not damaged, and no injuries were reported, Stewart said.
