Two men were seriously injured Sunday when their car collided with a Metro Gold Line train in Pasadena, a fire department spokeswoman said.
The collision took place on California Boulevard, between Arroyo Parkway and Raymond Avenue, at about 11:30 a.m., Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.
The two injured men were driving west in a Toyota Corolla when they were hit by a Gold Line train, Derderian added. They were transported to a hospital in serious condition, she said. There were no injuries among the 24 passengers on the train.
Metro spokeswoman Kim Upton said there are gates to protect motorists at the intersection where the crash occurred.
The crash temporarily shut down California Avenue at the accident site, according to the Pasadena police. The street was reopened at about 2:25 p.m.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
