An investigation was underway Thursday into a reported murder-suicide in Downey that claimed the lives of three people — a man, his girlfriend and their year-old baby boy.

The bodies were discovered by the landlord of an apartment complex in the 7300 block of Neo Street around 8 p.m. Wednesday, said Downey Police Lt. Mark McDaniel. Their names were withheld pending family notification.

The deceased were described as a male, a female and their baby son. The landlord entered the apartment due to family concerns at not having heard from the occupants for several days.

The deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide, according to broadcast reports, but police did not immediately confirm it.

“Right now, we are looking at all angles,” McDaniel said early this morning.

There were no reports of a weapon turning up in the apartment.

“The two adults (had) a four-year relationship together,” McDaniel told Fox11. “The young toddler … is a common (law) child between the two. We do have some information that we gathered from the family that there has been numerous threats by the male towards the girlfriend in the past. We’re still looking into it.”

The bodies of the woman and child were found in a bathtub, and the body of the man was found in a bedroom nearby, Fox11 reported.
