The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors offered $10,000 rewards Tuesday for information on three unrelated fatal shootings in Norwalk, Lakewood and the unincorporated area of Athens.
Supervisor Don Knabe recommended a reward in the fatal shooting of Walter Vicente, 49, and his 24-year-old son Andrew Vicente.
On July 14, the two men were both shot in the head in a residence in the 12300 block of Gettysburg Drive in Norwalk.
Investigators said the men were not gang members.
Anyone with more information was asked to call sheriff’s homicide Sgt. Tim Cain or Detective Michael Caouette at (323) 574-3669.
Knabe also asked for a reward for information on who shot and killed 24- year-old Duke Herrera.
Deputies found Herrera’s body Sept. 19, lying at the bottom of an embankment along the San Gabriel riverbed in Lakewood. Herrera, who investigators said was not a gang member and had been diagnosed with a pervasive developmental disorder, had been shot in the upper torso.
Anyone with more information on the Lakewood killing was asked to call sheriff’s Sgt. Robert J. Gray at (323) 574-3407.
Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas proposed a reward leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever fatally shot 39-year-old Tramel Kerl in Athens.
In the early morning hours of Feb. 21, Kerl was dropping off a friend near Budlong Avenue and 99th Street when two men walked up to his car and suddenly opened fire.
The suspects were described as black men in their mid-20s. One was said to be heavyset and wearing a red hoodie and a large gold chain around his neck. The other was described as tall with a slim to medium build.
Ridley-Thomas said Kerl was a family man who was the primary caregiver for his 5-year-old son while his wife worked as a registered nurse. He left behind another 14-year-old son, according to Ridley-Thomas.
