A man was arrested on suspicion of burglary after he fell through a dropped ceiling at Los Angeles City Hall East, police said Wednesday.

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Edward Letona, gained access to the City Hall East building and was between the hard ceiling and suspended ceiling panels on the building’s sixth floor about 2 p.m. Monday when he fell, Officer Matthew Ludwig of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section said.

The Las Vegas man was shirtless when he dropped into a lunchroom and then ran to the nearby Los Angeles Mall, where he was arrested after buying a sweatshirt at a CVS store in the underground shopping and dining plaza, police told NBC4.

A custodian saw the man fall and called police. Channel 4 reported that the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to file felony charges against Letona, but he could still face prosecution for misdemeanor trespassing.
