An officer-involved shooting in Northridge on Monday left a man police said was acting strangely dead.
The shooting occurred about 1 p.m. near Elkwood Street and Andasol Avenue, said Los Angeles police Officer Matt Ludwig.
Officers from the LAPD’s West Valley Division responded to a report of a man acting strangely and encountered the suspect, a Latino in his 30s, in the street, Ludwig said.
The man did not respond to the officers’ commands, leading them to zap him with a stun gun and blast him with at least one bean bag shotgun round, to no effect, the officer said.
An altercation ensued and an officer-involved shooting occurred, Ludwig said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
No officers were injured.
