Police have identified the 64-year-old suspect who killed himself in San Bernardino County after a wild shooting spree.
The man had engaged in multiple shootings in separate locations in the Los Angeles area, including one homicide and one shooting that left a man brain-dead.
John Revels of Lancaster shot himself in his vehicle after it broke down at about 2 p.m. Friday on the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 just north of Barstow, police said. He was possibly driving back from Las Vegas.
California Highway Patrol officers located the vehicle stopped on the southbound shoulder of the freeway, sheriff’s officials said. Upon making contact with Revels officers heard a single gunshot from inside the vehicle and they discovered he had died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Revels is believed to have shot to death his live-in girlfriend, 63-year- old Cornelia Adrienne McIntosh, whose body was discovered in her Lake Los Angeles residence at 15827 Greenrock Ave. Deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station made forced entry into the home at 2:30 p.m. Friday after obtaining a search warrant when they were notified by Hawthorne police that Revels had shot two people in Hawthorne and one person in Los Angeles and they suspected he had shot McIntosh, sheriff’s officials said.
Two people were shot in Hawthorne at about 3:50 p.m. Thursday in the 12900 block of Doty Avenue, according to Hawthorn police Lt. A. Yoshida. One victim was declared brain-dead and was on life support and the other was shot in the arm and was expected to survive.
Los Angles police responded to another shooting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, and the victim was believed to be Revels’ brother. He remains hospitalized in critical condition, Yoshida said.
