Around 4,500 utility customers in Los Angeles County and about 500 in Orange County remained without power Tuesday night as problems caused by high winds and falling trees and branches continued to affect the delivery of electricity.

In the city of Los Angeles, about 4,000 customers were without electricity as of 4 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Among the problem areas:

— Mid-Wilshire, 2,468 customers;

— Bel Air, 850 customers;

— Mar Vista, 333 customers; and

— Westwood, 188, customers.

Since Monday, the DWP has restored power to more than 52,000 of its customers who lost service, according to the utility.

Southern California Edison reported that 1,501 of its customers were without service in Los Angeles County and 508 were without power in Orange County Tuesday evening.
