The coroner’s office Wednesday identified a 36-year-old man who was found dead in a van in Norwalk with facial and head trauma.

An autopsy is pending to pinpoint the cause of Eric Hector Sarabia’s death, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. His city of residence was not immediately available.

Deputies dispatched about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 13900 block of Flatbush Avenue, near Rosecrans Avenue, found Sarabia dead inside a white van parked along a curb, according to the sheriff’s department.

Lt. Steve Jauch of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, which was investigating the death, said it’s unclear how long the body was in the van, which was not registered to Sarabia.

There was no indication that Sarabia was a gang member, according to Jauch.

“We don’t know if he is a local,” the lieutenant said.
