Authorities searched Friday for two men who kidnapped two male teenagers in Palmdale, but neither victim was hurt and both were released by their captors.

Law enforcement officials had no immediate explanation for the incident, nor what a motive could have been.

The kidnapping began at the intersection of 6th Street East and Avenue R about 7:45 p.m. Thursday, said sheriff’s Lt. Brian Dunn.

The two suspects approached the two 17-year-olds while they were sitting in the car, Dunn said.

“One of the men pulled out a handgun and the two suspects forced themselves into the car and told the owner to drive a short distance,” he said. “The two suspects then ordered the driver to stop and forced the two teens into the back seat. They drove another short distance and then stopped and ordered the two teens out of the car. Then the suspects drove away.”

Dunn said detectives were searching for a blue 2000 BMW sedan, license number 6VHX300.

The case he said was both a carjacking and a kidnapping because the suspects forced the teens to stay in the car and drove them away. It is being handled by Major Crimes detectives.

Anyone with information on these suspects or the whereabouts of the car was asked to call the sheriff’s Palmdale station at (661) 272-2400.
