
Fire investigators Monday were trying to determine what caused a massive blaze at an auto body shop that damaged the structure and 15 vehicles in a greater-alarm fire in South Los Angeles.
Leaping 25-foot flames could be scene as the fire in the 7300 block of Avalon Boulevard was reported at 8:55 p.m. Sunday. Flames were shooting “through the roof” when firefighters arrived, said Los Angeles Firefighter David Ortiz.
It took about 40 minutes for 90 firefighters to put out the flames, Ortiz said. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.
