Sheriff’s homicide detectives and Los Angeles County coroner’s office personnel Friday will investigate the discovery of a bone found in the Llano desert near Lancaster, a lieutenant said.

The bone was found near 228th Street East and Fort Tejon Road about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Lt. John Corina of the sheriff’s homicide bureau.

Coroner’s investigators will determine if the bone was human, Deputies Tina Schrader and Crystal Hernandez said. Only one bone was seen and it was partially buried, they said.

There was no immediate word on how the bone was found or who found it.
