Los Angeles County firefighters stopped an arcing transformer, turning a blaze on the roof of a 99-cent store in El Monte Tuesday night into a short fire.
The fire was reported at 8:52 p.m. at a building in the 9900 block of East Garvey Avenue, according to a county fire dispatcher.
A knockdown is about to be announced, the dispatcher said.
