Police asked for the public’s help Thursday in the search for two burglars who broke into a Fairfax district restaurant and stole about $1,200 in personal checks and cash from a register.

The theft took place at Della Terra, an Italian restaurant at 7675 Beverly Blvd., about 1 a.m. on Dec. 20, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The culprits, two men who appear to be 30 to 45 years old, pried open the rear door of the business, made their way into the restaurant’s dining room, then forced open a register, police said. Police have released surveillance video of the break-in on the LAPD’s website.

Both suspects are black. One was 30 to 40 years old, between 5 feet 3 and 5 feet 6, about 190 pounds with a dark moustache, wearing a dark beanie, a light-colored jacket, dark shoes and dark gloves. The other was between 35 and 45, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2, also with a dark moustache. He, too, was wearing a light-colored jacket, dark shoes and gloves, and also wore a light- colored beanie and light-colored pants.

Anyone with information about the suspects was urged to call the Wilshire Station detective handling the case at (213) 922-8251. Weekend or after-hours calls can be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7 and anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
